Website Development Update: After Some Feedback

Here are 2 new mockups of my redesigned website.

As you can see, I added a small visual element to show how empty space would be used, (it was pointed out before as people didn't understand that I was going to have a visual element there later.) I also removed the text above each icon and replaced it instead with simple "Navigation" and "Social Networking Connection" labels.

In the first mock-up, I simply added some space between the icons. I didn't have to sacrifice any space in the information box either.

The second mockup shows the same spacing of icons, but with a frame around them. I know it's just a slight difference, but someone suggested I try it to see if it helps. The only issue with it is that I had to sacrifice some space in my information box to the right.

Website Mockup

Here is the current mockup for my website, simulating the contact information page. There will be a lot more visually once I've the header, footer, and page-specific illustrations completed. For now, this is a "general idea and layout." I'll also be getting feedback from various individuals to help improve this as I continue working with it.

Further Website Work

So I've gotten some more work for my website finished up. I've made a mockup of the layout in an HTML file, very rudimentary, but it should make things easier as I start finishing up the visual material.

Speaking of which, the first major parts of the visual material is the interactive elements, namely, the icons. Here are the icons:

The icons, as shown are: Illustration Gallery, Graphic Design Gallery, Visual Storytelling Gallery, Resume, Contact, Bio, (second row is:) Blogger, Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and DeviantArt Gallery.

Website Redesign

Presently, I'm in the process of redesigning my website. I've been unable to update my personal website since leaving college, and therefore losing my ability to access the Ringling servers. I decided to upload this page from my sketchbook to show the thought process I generally go through when thinking up a website.

The general plan that I have is to make the illustration body of my work my index page. The navigation bar will be on the right and have 6 icons that always appear. There will be 3 galleries (illustration, graphic design, and visual storytelling) and each gallery will have a series of thumbnails for each piece on the right (below the navigation bar.) Instead of clicking on an icon and opening up a lightbox viewer to see an image, the user will need to only roll their cursor over the icon and an image will appear automatically on the right of the screen, thereby reducing loading time.
